It is the age-old story, well, the 2005-old story. Students wanting to text in class and being not so sly, only to get caught.

As difficult as it is, resist temptation. There are many benefits of not using your phone in class, aside from the most obvious:  avoiding a detention.

First, if you do not pay attention, you cannot do well in the class. The stress at the end of the semester of trying to bring your grades up because you just had to know what your horoscope said or which restaurant to try is not worth it.

Then, there are the good-person points. It is the end of the semester, something goes wrong, and you fail your lit final. What a catastrophe! Failing the class, just a couple points away from bumping up to a C, if only there was something you could have done.  Well, there was. Teachers are more likely to bump up your grade if they have seen you actively participating and doing all your work in class instead of watching your best friend’s snapstory.

Some teachers will straight up take your phone. Then you will not get it until the end of class, the end of the day, or until a parent or legal guardian comes to collect it. Then mom or dad might find out about that test you failed last week; yeah, not so good.

There are ways to use your phone in class and not interrupt learning, just do not do it while you are learning crucial information. You are only hurting yourself in the long run.
