As the nights get longer and the days get shorter, no one wants to be left alone in the dark, especially the darkness from daylight savings time. The aroma from pine-scented candles flows throughout the atmosphere, and Starbucks holiday coffee cups have made their annual appearance.

So it begins; ‘tis cuffing season once again ‘til spring do you part.
Cuffing season is the time of year where prolonged cold weather leads to “confirmed” single flirts wanting to be “cuffed” or commit to a serious relationship. The holiday charm combined with winter weather makes people desperate to escape the life of a singleton, alone in the cold, listening to Drake or Adele solo.
It makes sense. From football games to bonfires and holiday magic, people genuinely want a significant other to snuggle and share those times. Winter brings reasons to stay in and binge-watch Netflix with that special someone if only to escape the cold weather.
According to TODAY.com, the most popular month for dating sites is January, and more people change their Facebook relationship status in winter months than summer.
Not only the holidays, but the new year also brings new resolutions, such as being more “social.”
According to dating website Match.com, more than half of its users sign up in the month of January. Cold weather also creates opportunities for cozy winter dates like ice skating or snowball fights that generally lead to cuddles on the couch over a steaming cup of hot chocolate.
‘Tis the season of cuffing, ladies and gentlemen, so go out and grab someone to share those cold winter nights together, turning them into something special.
